For a decade I worked with Ric, my business partner and husband of 20 years, as an administrator in his financial advising firm. I supported clients and, with him, built a healthy financial practice. In 2021, we made the decision to change firms and we opened Altalune Wealth Advisors, a woman-owned, New Mexico small business. I wanted our firm to flip the idea of financial advice from an intimidating, dreaded process to one that is supportive, personal and even enjoyable. We go beyond the rhetoric of client-first and actually walk to talk. And I love my job for it.
Previous to working in the financial services industry, I had a 20-year career in non-profit fundraising and executive management. I did all things non-profit and still actively support the vital work non-profits do. I worked with major donors to understand their charitable passions and then helped them contribute major charitable gifts. I wrote and managed federal, state and private foundations grants that over my career accounted for more than $20 million. I was interim Executive Director for NM Dental Foundation and Taos Sports Alliance. And secured seed funding for many organizations, including maternal child health home visiting programs in Taos County and on Taos Pueblo. For many years, I also served as the Director of Marketing and Development for Taos Health Systems. I still love helping clients identify how they can support their communities and the causes they love.
I have a Graduate Certificate in Health Care Executive Management from UCLA, MA in English from Southern Illinois University and a BA from Truman State University. I was a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) for twelve years. I am a native of Kansas City, and while my Midwest roots run deep, I have been dedicated to the high prairies and mountains of New Mexico for more than 25 years. I raised my son on the slopes of Taos Ski Valley, and continue exploring this beautiful state in my free time.
